jEdit

Written in Java, jEdit is a programming text editor that aims to beat its commercial competitors on functionality and ease-of-use while still remaining free and open source. Features of jEdit include a built-in macro language, along with dozens of plugins and macros available; auto-indent and syntax highlighting for more than 130 languages; word wrap; and folding for hiding selected text regions. jEdit also supports multiple character encodings like UTF8 and Unicode, and is fully customizable.
